What is Tooth Mousse? How Does it Help Prevent Cavities? Feb 16

Love Chocolate Mousse? Never heard of Tooth Mousse, your not alone. Although, Tooth Mousse has been available now for some time not everyone is aware of the product and its benefits.

Origin:

Tooth Mousse was developed by research scientists from both Melbourne Dental School and the GC Corporation in Japan.

How Tooth Mousse Works:

Tooth Mousse

Tooth Mousse is an oral health product that is used to help protect teeth. It contains a special peptide (derived from milk) that has been show in many scientific and clinical studies to remineralise decayed teeth by replenishing lost calcium and phosphate. It is easier to think about tooth mousse as a topical creme that is in a sense liquid tooth, this is applied directly onto the surface of the teeth and it is able to microscopically allow for calcium and phosphate to help rebuild or remineralise the tooth. Now this will not allow for the tooth to fully rebuild itself; however, it is certainly a good option to help prevent decay and make the teeth stronger. From a video on the process click here.

How Do You Use Tooth Mousse?

Tooth Mousse can be applied directly onto the surface of the teeth. Or in cases of isolated sensitivity can be applied to the tooth causing the trouble. Only a pea sized amount of the tooth mousse creme is needed. This can be applied either via a cotton bud or with clean hands (finger). This can be allowed to soak in. Often times people will apply just before bed. If you are using Tooth Mousse Plus which contains Fluoride, it would be important to apply during the day for about 30 minutes then rinse out any excess with water.

More Advantages:

  • Tooth Mousse is also able to help reduces sensitivity. For cases where cold drinks have become quite extreme or there has been some evidence of recession.
  • It can be used after Whitening Procedures to help minimized tooth sensitivity.
  • It can be of great benefit for those going through the process of braces or orthodontics as it can help reduce decay around dental brackets.
  • It is not the same as tooth paste, it is a topical creme made of milk products so swallowing the product is safe and can be used throughout the day.
  • Provides another method of protection. Whereas, Fluoride helps to protect the outside of the tooth to make it strong; tooth mousse soaks inside the tooth to help reminieralise the tooth adding calcium and phosphate.
  • It can help neutralize an acidic environment from bacteria in plaque and other sources.
